Romeo and Juliet

Music by Charles Gounod
Translated by Russell Plows

In 2013, I was commissioned by London’s Riverside Opera to create a new English translation of Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette for performances at the Rose Theatre in Kingston. The production was directed by Sophie Gilpin and conducted by Sam Evans. The translation is available to perform – please contact me if you’d like to see it in full.

Mab, begins her nightly scheming when men are dreaming,
Very gently, like a zephyr at play.
Through the open spaces,
Through the darkened skies,
There she races, there she flies.
